SB 1162: Silver Alert Notification; Developmental Disability
This bill permits a silver alert notification to be issued for a missing person who has a developmental disability (i.e., a severe, chronic disability caused by cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism or a cognitive disability)
First sponsor: Sen. Brophy McGee; Others: Sen. Bowie
ADC Position: Support
This legislation creates a statewide system of notification to find a person with a developmental disability before any harm occurs.
The cost of such a system is minimal and relies on existing alert systems. Police can request the alert if a person is missing under suspicious circumstances and believed to be in danger.
